Redeeming avAssets

Redeeming is the step to convert your base avAssets (e.g. avUSD) back into their underlying base assets (e.g. USDC).

Prerequisite: Have an avAsset Balance

Before you can redeem, you must have a balance of the avAsset you wish to exit in your wallet. If your funds are currently earning yield in an savAsset or avAssetX, you must first complete the Unstaking or Redeeming process for those tokens.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Go to the Portfolio Section: Navigate to the Portfolio tab on the platform.

  2. Select Asset to Redeem: Find your avAsset balance and click the Redeem tab.

  3. Enter the Amount: Input the amount of the avAsset (e.g., avUSD) you wish to redeem. The interface will show you the exact amount of underlying asset you will get in return.

  4. Approve the Token: You must grant the protocol permission to interact with the specific amount of the token you wish to deposit. Click Approve and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

  5. Initiate Redemption: Click Redeem and confirm the transaction in your wallet. Your tokens will automatically reflect in your balance once the redemption process is completed.

  6. Confirm the Redemption: Click the Redeem button and approve the transaction in your wallet pop-up.

Additional Information

  • Variable Waiting Period: While redemptions are often completed within a few hours, they can take up to 7 days depending on market liquidity and other conditions. You can monitor the status of your request in your Portfolio.

  • Order Flexibility: You can cancel or adjust your avAsset redemption request at any time before it is finalized. To adjust a pending redemption, submit a new request with the desired amount. This will automatically update and replace your existing order.

  • Transparency: A redemption fee may apply, and this will be clearly displayed in the interface before you proceed.
